News - Co-op Financial Service lose jobs


One hundred and thirty jobs are going from Insurance Services (CIS) in Manchester.

Its holding company, Co-operative Financial Services, says the redundancies are due to changing needs.

The company says they hope most of the workers can be transferred to other , but redundancies may be inevitable.

The staff affected work at the CIS building and at the Portland Tower in the centre of Manchester.

Other companies in the Co-operative Financial Services group include their internet banking arm, Smile, as well as the Co-operative Bank.

A spokesman said: “Co-operative Financial Services is seeking to reduce staff numbers by 130 within this department, which currently employs around 450 people.

“Redeployment or voluntary redundancy options are being explored.

“This is being carried out in full with those affected and trade unions.”
